Maintenance and Service Methods for Diesel Generator Sets(二)
Regular Maintenance (According to Running Time or Cycle)
1.Air Filter Maintenance
The air filter is used to filter the air entering the engine, preventing dust, impurities and so on from entering the cylinder and protecting the normal operation of the engine. Clean or replace the air filter regularly according to the dust level of the unit's operating environment.
When cleaning the air filter, for a dry air filter, compressed air can be used to blow from the inside to the outside to blow off the dust. However, pay attention that the pressure should not be too high to avoid damaging the filter element. For a wet air filter, take out the filter element, wash it with a clean solvent, and then install it for use after drying. Generally, the air filter needs to be cleaned once every 50 - 100 hours of operation, and the filter element needs to be replaced once every 200 - 300 hours of operation.
2.Fuel Filter Maintenance
The fuel filter can filter impurities in the fuel and prevent impurities from entering the fuel injectors and the engine cylinder. Regularly replacing the fuel filter is an important measure to ensure the normal operation of the fuel system.
When replacing the fuel filter, first close the valve of the fuel tank and release the pressure in the fuel system, and then use special tools to remove the old filter. When installing the new filter, ensure good sealing to avoid fuel leakage. Generally, the fuel filter needs to be replaced once every 100 - 200 hours of operation.
3.Oil and Oil Filter Maintenance
The oil will deteriorate after being used for a period of time and lose its function of lubricating and protecting the engine. Regularly replacing the oil is the key to extending the life of the engine. When replacing the oil, first preheat the unit, and then open the drain plug of the oil pan to drain the old oil completely. At the same time, replace the oil filter, because a large number of impurities will accumulate in the oil filter.
Select oil that meets the requirements of the unit for addition, and the amount of added oil should meet the scale requirements of the dipstick. Generally, the oil and oil filter need to be replaced once every 250 - 500 hours of operation.
4.Cooling System Maintenance
The cooling system includes components such as the radiator, water pump and cooling water pipes. Regularly check whether each component of the cooling system is working normally. Check whether the fins of the radiator are blocked. If they are blocked by dust or debris, it will affect the cooling effect. They can be cleaned with compressed air or a low-pressure water gun.
Check the working condition of the water pump, and see whether there is leakage or abnormal noise in the water pump. At the same time, regularly replace the coolant. Generally, the coolant needs to be replaced once every 1 - 2 years or 1000 - 2000 hours of operation to ensure the good performance of the cooling system.
5.Generator Maintenance
Inspect the stator and rotor of the generator. Check the insulation resistance of the stator winding. Use an insulation resistance meter to measure the insulation resistance value to ensure that it is within the normal range. If the insulation resistance value is too low, it may indicate that the winding is damp or the insulation is damaged, and drying treatment or repair is needed.
Check the excitation winding and slip rings of the rotor. Clean the dirt and carbon powder on the surface of the slip rings to ensure good contact between the slip rings and the brushes. At the same time, check the wear condition of the brushes. If the wear of the brushes exceeds the specified range, they need to be replaced in a timely manner to ensure the normal power generation of the generator. Generally, the generator needs to be comprehensively inspected and maintained once every six months or about 1000 hours of operation.
